The time for relaxation and nourishment
The lights in the christmastree bring a soft shimmer in the room. Wrapped up in a wool blanket, I cradle a mug of hot tea in my hands. The magical lights in our street reflect in the window. I have to admit, I do love December. Not the hectic energy nor consumerism. But the feeling of cosiness this time of year gives me. The feeling of a warm hug.
The antidote to being busy
The soft tunes I play, the flowers on the table and the subtle scent of pine tree. Cosy is a very sensory experience. The sensory elements evoke positive emotional responses, inducing deeper relaxation and a sense of solace. To me cosiness is the antidote to being busy all the time. It invites us to slow down. To just BE. Creating a cosy environment for ourselves is self-soothing. It offers a pause from chaos. It’s a haven, where the outside world fades to the background. On a deeper level, it even makes us feel safer. And when we feel safer in our lives or the world, it’s easier to make deciscions from love instead of fear. And that’s what the world needs more of, I believe.
Turning inward at the end of the year
So bringing more cosy in our lives is not just some shallow act.. It’s the perfect environment to reflect, as I usually do at the end of each year. I create cosy in our home or find it by spending time in the local bookstore or cafe that has that livingroom vibe. So as I decorate the christmastree and put on some jazzy christmas tunes, I know on a deeper level I nurture myself and my little family.
Merry Christmas!
